Five people last evening died on the spot in yet another fatal road traffic accident in Rufunsa District of Lusaka Province.

And Rufunsa District Commissioner Paul Kasongo has bemoaned the continued loss of productive lives through road traffic accidents.

The accident involved a Dark Blue Toyota Vitz registration number ALH 4511 that rammed into a truck after failing to overtake another vehicle.

ZANIS reports that the Toyota Vitz was coming from Chipata District and believed to have been on its way to Lusaka.

All the five occupants of the Toyota Vitz died instant on the spot and their bodies are lying in nearby Chongwe District.

Both Rufunsa District Commissioner Paul Kasongo and Rufunsa District Community Medical Officer Musande Silyowe confirmed the accident.

Mr. Kasongo says the accident happened in Mulamba area which has become notorious for fatal accidents.

And in another development, Mr. Kasongo says police in the district are investigating the grisly murder of a 98 year old man identified as Chuma Daka of Mupwaya Village.

He has explained the man was discovered four days later after disappearing from his house with both his eyes poked out.

Mr. Kasongo says the body of the man was found in an advanced decomposed state and has since been buried.

The DC urged Rufunsa residents to report any suspicious people to the police in order to curb crime in the district.
