Zambia international defender Hichani Himonde has been ruled out of Zesco United’s away game against Red Arrows on Saturday.

Himonde limped off in the first half of Zesco’s scoreless home draw against Power Dynamos on 26 April in a Faz Super League Week Six game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The defender is expected to be out of action for at least two weeks.

Himonde said he is disappointed that he will not be available to travel with the team for the Week Seven game at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

“It’s obviously a big setback for me more especially that I am now getting games under my belt and the team is doing very well. It’s disappointing to get injured at this exciting moment,” Himonde told the club’s official website.

Himonde was replaced in the 43rd minute by Daudi Musekwa.

The defender is currently on a half a season loan at Zesco from South African Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns, who bought him from DR Congo club TP Mazembe this past January.

Meanwhile, Zesco are unbeaten in the league and currently second on the FAZ Super League table with 13 points from five games played and with a match in hand, and are three points behind leaders Power.
