PRESIDENT Sata is a great statesman who cannot be compared with the current crop of opposition leaders, Patriotic Front (PF) secretary-general Wynter Kabimba has said.
Mr Kabimba said the United Party for National Development (UPND) should not think that its president Hakainde Hichilema is at the level of President Sata.

“It is unfair to compare President Sata to Nevers Mumba [MMD president] or Hakainde Hichilema. Mr Sata is a great statesman,” he said.
Mr Kabimba, who is also Minister of Justice, said this here yesterday when he addressed PF leaders.
Mr Kabimba said no opposition leader is better than President Sata.
“There can be no comparison between President Sata and Nevers Mumba or Hakainde Hichilema. Let’s be serious about running this country,” Mr Kabimba said.
But when contacted for a comment, Mr Hichilema asked Mr Kabimba not to drag him into what he termed cheap politics.
Mr Hichilema said he has more understanding about how to run the country’s economy than PF leaders.
And efforts to get a comment from Dr Mumba proved futile as he was reportedly attending an MMD national executive committee meeting.
Meanwhile, Mr Kabimba has paid glowing tribute to President Sata for supporting him when some PF members wanted to hound him out of the party.
“I want to thank President Sata for being there for me when some people were against the office of the secretary-general and the presidency,” Mr Kabimba said.
He said President Sata showed strong leadership qualities and that the PF has remained the only strong political party in the country.
Mr Kabimba said Zambians cannot vote for the MMD and UPND because PF is a pro-poor party, which will remain in power for a long time.
He also told PF members not to engage in violence because doing so retards development.
And civil servants in Kawambwa have said that they are not ashamed to be associated with the PF.
The civil servants said this through Kawambwa district commissioner Ivo Mpasa when Mr Kabimba addressed them on Saturday and outlined PF’s vision for the country
“Yes we are civil servants but we are proud to say the PF is working here. So, we want to translate and implement PF policies. We want to do things the PF way,” Mr Mpasa said. ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL
