The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) says it will go ahead with the planned constitution indaba tomorrow despite key stakeholders resolving to shun the event.

The Grand Coalition on the demand for a new constitution has become the latest grouping to resolve to shun the indaba joining sixteen opposition political parties which have resolved not to attend.

But SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has told Qfm News that despite such setbacks the constitution summit will go ahead as planned tomorrow, Wednesday.

Mr. Cheembe says his organization has already received in excess of 40 confirmations of attendance from various organizations.

He says organizations that have confirmed participation in the Indaba come from a spectrum of media, church, academia and civil society movements among others.

Mr. Cheembe has also reaffirmed his organization’s continued commitment to providing a forum where people engage each other face to face as a means of addressing issues that are of national concern.
