THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has lifted the one year suspension slapped on Power Dynamos vice chairperson George Lungu.
Lungu returns to the football business after his earlier life ban was reduced to a one year suspension.
This is after Lungu was alleged to have incited Power supporters to assault Lusaka based referee Wellington Kaoma at the end of a 1-1 away Week 24 game against Forest Rangers on October 5, at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola.
Power club secretary Ricky Mamfunda said the club was humbled by FAZ’s decision to lift Lungu’s suspension.
“His suspension has been lifted and the decision according to the FAZ general secretary George Kasengele was reached on the March 29, when the disciplinary committee met in Kabwe just before this year’s annual general meeting,” Mamfunda said.
Mamfunda said FAZ considered Lungu’s remorse over the incident and the security measures put in place by Power and the clubs’ programme to sensitise its supporters to refrain from any hooliganism or forms of violence.
