Government has released K256,000 for developmental projects for Makangila Ward in Luangeni constituency under Constituency Development Funds (CDF) for 2013.

Area Councillor, Daniel Mwanza, stated that the projects will include installation of hand pumps on some boreholes at Kanyanja Business Centre and Kanyemba Jere village and completion of some teachers’ houses at Makwelero and Kanyanja Primary school and construction of a culvert on Simunga stream among others.

Mr Mwanza was speaking at a meeting addressed by area Member of Parliament, Charles Zulu, at Makangila Primary School yesterday.

He further said people in the area were in dire need for rehabilitation of Chinyaku dam because animals have nowhere to drink water from.

The councillor stated that people also need to be connected to the national grid because old women inclusive walk long distance to grind their maize using electric hammer mills.

He also expressed concern over the bad state of the roads in the area especially Kagunda/Madzimoyo road which is a major road linking villages and connecting to the Great East road.

Mr Mwanza said Madzimoyo bridge on Lutembwe river on the same road was also in bad shape and needed urgent repairs because school-going children fail to cross during the rainy season.

And Mr Zulu said that communication with the responsible Ministry has already started and urged people in the area to wait, saying once the process starts engineers have to assess the situation before the road is worked.

Mr Zulu also urged councillors and chiefs in the constituency to pay attention by monitoring the developmental projects undertaken in the area to avoid wastage of resources.

He also told the people that it will not help them to cling to Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) because their concerns can only be addressed by the Ruling Party Patriotic Front (PF).

“UNIP ruled followed by MMD and these parties are gone. You should not be cheated because they will never come back all what is there is to work with PF which manages the country’s resources,” he stressed.
