The rugby showpiece which attracts all teams in the Zambian rugby league, will be held at Diggers Rugby club in Kitwe.
In a joint statement issued today, MTN Zambia Chief marketing officer Clement Asante has noted that Zambian rugby is fast becoming popular hence the need to have tournaments that will showcase the best of the sport to its fans.
Asante has since called for the strengthening of the local rugby league to make it more competitive.
He says Zambia has massive potential to be a rugby league powerhouse but that it needs to start from a well supported league.
And Diggers Rugby Club Chairman Chileshe Bweupe says the club is proud of the partnership that has developed since the telecoms giant started sponsoring Diggers when they were still called Telecel.
Bweupe says this is a clear example of Corporate Social Investment at its best and that Diggers is a true testimony of what consistent support for the private sector can do.
He adds that Diggers has remained a top ranked team this season because of the support from MTN Zambia and Mopani Copper Mines.
