Govt warns contractors in  Muchinga province

Chinsali, March 26, 2014,ZANIS — Government has warned contractors  it  has engaged in Muchinga province  that they risk their contracts being terminated if they do not finish the works on time.

MUCHINGA Permanent Secretary Bwalya  Ngándu said  his office was  not happy with the performance of many contractors engaged by the Government to carry out various projects.

He said that his office will have no option but to terminate contracts of contractors who will be found wanting.

Dr. Ngándu said that Government is spending colossal amounts of money in paying lodge owners in Chinsali for accommodating its officers because of inadequate residential accommodation.

The Permanent Secretary  sounded the warning in Chinsali yesterday when he addressed contractors in the council chamber.

Dr. Ngandu  charged that according to the project schedules at his office, some projects in the area were scheduled to be completed by September last year but cannot be completed even this time around.

Government wants construction of civil servants houses to be expedited so that civil servants can quickly move in to occupy those houses and use the money it is spending in paying lodge owners to fund other important projects.

There are about 40 running projects in Muchinga, among them, the six storey provincial administration, Four-storey provincial administration, Police divisional headquarters, construction of civil servants houses and many more.
