Pupil nabbed for alleged murder of fellow pupil with a javelin

Kaoma, March 25, 2014,  ZANIS — A grade twelve pupil of Nkeyema secondary school in  Kaoma District has been arrested for murdering his fellow pupil during school sporting activities yesterday.

 

Western province police commissioner Lombe Kamunkoshi confirmed the arrest of the pupil in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in an interview in Kaoma District, today.

 

Ms. Kamukoshi named and identified the deceased as Kahalu Kayombo 20, a grade 12 pupil at Nkeyema secondary school of section H16 in TBZ area in Nkeyema district.

 

He disclosed that the late Kayombo was murdered by Patrick Kambakwe 18, a pupil of the same school during sporting activities where pupils were training using javelin throwers at Nkeyema school grounds.

 

She said Kayombo was killed in unforeseen circumstances and expressed the situation as sad as children were training at the ground in readiness for this year’s sporting activities in the district.

 

Ms Kamunkoshi said that the deceased was accidentally stabbed in the right side below the collar bone and sustained a deep wound and later died as he was being rushed to Nkeyema rural health centre.

 

The suspect is currently in police custody and while  the body of the deceased  is still in Kaoma district hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

 

The police commissioner has since warned teachers and pupils to be extra careful whenever handling sharp instruments during sporting activities to avoid loss of lives.
