–Police in Solwezi in North-western province have apprehended three suspected criminals who attempted to steal a vehicle belonging to Kalumbila mine.

North-western Province Police Commissioner Eugene Sibote confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview.

Mr. Sibote said the suspects were arrested yesterday at around 16:00 hours and were currently in police custody awaiting court appearance.

He said he received a complaint from Kalumbila mine authorities and deployed police officers to the mine situated in Mwinilunga district, about 150 kilometres from Solwezi.

“I received a phone call from Kalumbila mine Managing Director and l sent my officers to the area. Three suspects were apprehended and they are in our custody,” he said.

It is not clear whether the suspected bandits are highway robbers coming from other towns or they are Solwezi residents.
