Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has challenged Republican Vice President Guy Scott to show proof to the Zambian people that PF government has created over 600, 000 jobs since assuming office in 2011.

Mr. Hichilema says the figures Dr. Scott gave in Parliament this morning are not factual and lack credibility.

He says the PF government is fond of giving wrong job figures when in the actual sense they are merely creating temporal jobs.

Mr. Hichilema has also attributed the continued depreciation of the Kwacha against other major foreign currencies to poor economic policies of the PF government.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Hichilema notes that this is the first time the Kwacha has reached such levels against the US dollar.

Mr. Hichilema explains that the value of the currency is a reflection of the performance of the economy, productivity, efficiency and credibility of the government leadership.

Meanwhile six top MMD officials from Mpika district in Muchinga Province have defected from the former ruling party to the UPND.

The six include former MMD Mpika District Organizer Noah Sinkamba, former District Women Chairperson Chilufya Chikonde, Youth Chairperson Geshom Kaonga and former MMD Mpika District Chairman Chrispine Chilekwa.

The former MMD district officials stated that they decided to join the UPND because it is the only party that can bring development and rescue Zambians from the alleged sufferings they are going through.
