NEWLY-ELECTED Livingstone Tourism Association (LTA) Board chairperson, Alex Munthali has called for aggressive marketing of the tourism sector in Zambia.
Mr Munthali, who replaced Active Monze during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Livingstone at the weekend, said his leadership would explore various ways of attracting more tourists to Zambia’s tourist capital.
He also commended the LTA members for their confidence in him by allowing him to take over the leadership of the organisation.
Mr Munthali is Stone Guest House director and Livingstone Lodges and Guest Houses Association vice-chairperson.
All the nominated LTA positions for 2014 went unopposed as no members expressed interest to challenge those on the list.
“As members of LTA, we need to use our association to aggressively market tourism products locally and abroad,” he said.
Thomas Banda was elected vice Board chairperson while Graham Nel was elected association treasurer.
James Mwanza is the Board secretary while other Board members are Mike Welch, Amy Lea, Andrew Murry, Joyce Sikabbuba, Michael Musenga, and Olive Samukolo.
Mr Monze said the Board had scored a number of successes such as facilitating the co-hosting of the 20th Session of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly in August last year.
