Livingstone resident fined k 400 for assaulting his girlfriend

 

 

Livingstone February 25, 2014 ZANIS —-  Livingstone Magistrate court  has  fined a 34- year-old man of Livingstone district of the southern province a sum of 400 for assaulting his girlfriend who he suspected of  prostitution.

 

 

Magistrate Andrew Kasongo charged and fined Alfred Kayata of house number 98 Zambezi Saw Mills in Livingstone with one account of assault occasioning bodily harm contrary to section 248 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

 

 

Particulars of the offence are that on February 6 this year in Livingstone, the accused allegedly assaulted Clementina Mweenda thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm by punching her in the face and wounding her by the elbow.

 

 

The victim later reported the matter to Livingstone central police and the accused was later apprehended.

 

 

The accused pleaded guilty and was asked to pay a sum of K400, of which K200 was for the state and the other K200 was to be paid to the victim failure to which he would be imprisoned for a period of nine months.
