—-Kabompo district is spending a lot of money maintaining government vehicles due to continuous use of unreliable fuel supply which is bought from vendors as the district has no filling station.

District Commissioner, Febby Kilele, revealed this in Kabompo when Permanent Secretary for North-western province, Amos Malupenga paid a courtesy call on her.

Ms Kilele said the problem is serious because departments are spending most of its funding on repairing vehicles instead of concentrating on government programmes.

She said government vehicles are more vulnerable and are breaking down regularly causing disruption to normal operations in the district.

And Mr Malupenga said the provincial administration will facilitate for the establishment of a filling station as it is not right for government operations to be disturbed.

The Permanent Secretary also called for efficiency in service delivery among civil servants.

Mr Malupenga said failure by some civil servants to interpret the development policies into actual projects was reflecting badly on government.

He urged the workers to apply themselves to duty and help the people to understand the development agenda of government so that they appreciate the benefits.
