Mufumbwe District Health Inspector, Hudson Mwila, has called on businesses in the district to desist from selling expired products.

Mr Mwila has also called on residents to check the expiry dates on goods before buying them.

Mr Mwila disclosed that the council has since started confiscating goods from shops across the district in a bid to rid Mufumbwe of expired goods.

The health inspector said this yesterday when his department disposed of an assortment of expired goods worth about K3, 500.

“We have come up with a programme whereby we are going through the shops weekly to check for expired goods, and so far we have done much to sensitise people on the issue,”  he said.

Mr Mwila reiterated that both traders and buyers need to make sure they do not deal in expired goods for their own respective benefit.
