-The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) Coordinator for North-western province, John Kalusa, has urged government ministries and cooperating partners to focus on citizens’ rights in accordance with the Patriotic Front government, which is pro-poor in delivery of quality services and goods to communities.

Mr Kalusa made the call when he addressed more than 30 participants at a CCJP pro-poor economic justice project workshop on town performance with regard to public service delivery held in the council chamber in Kabompo yesterday.

Mr Kalusa, who was accompanied by the project officer, Isaac Mungwala, said there was need to focus on rights of the people in the district if government ministries and cooperating partners were to deliver quality services and goods to citizens.

He said they should focus on the people’s standard of living by improving food security, health, education, social security, clothing and housing for the poor and marginalized people in Kabompo.

He added that the best way to achieve this is through learning about past successes and failures based on programmes made by government ministries and their partners in the past.

And one of the participants, Luka Chisango, said government should quickly commence work on upgrading the approved 5.7 km Kabompo township roads to bituminous standard because the state of the roads is pathetic.
