Lusaka Mayor Daniel Chisenga has expressed concern that some councillors have not utilized their ward development funds.

Mr. Chisenga said some funds were either still in the Lusaka City Council coffers or have been sent back to the council because councillors have failed to come up with programmes and projects on which to spend the money.

He said this in Lusaka yesterday during the opening of the tenth ordinary full council meeting at the council chamber.

Mr. Chisenga has since warned that funds that are not utilised will be withdrawn and given to other wards that will find them useful.

He said it was unfortunate that some councillors were failing to come up with programmes that will help uplift the living standards of the people in their wards.

He has since called on Members of Parliament to guide their councillors on how to utilise the ward development funds.

Mr. Chisenga said lack of utilisation of funds allocated to respective wards will bring backwardness and retard development in the country.
