Police in Muchinga Province have recovered a stolen vehicle at Mpika weighbridge and arrested one suspect.


Muchinga Deputy Police Chief, Bonny Kapeso, confirmed the development to ZANIS in Chinsali today.


Mr Kapeso says the suspect was apprehended yesterday in Mpika around 13:30
hours.


The suspect has been identified as Kely Chiluba, 29, of house number 16, Lwitikila Street in Kalulushi district on the Copperbelt.


Mr Kapeso said Chiluba has been in Chinsali for three weeks before he staged his plans to steal the said vehicle.


He said the stolen vehicle, Toyota Corolla Saloon, registration number ACT 9842, belongs to Emmanuel Simpamba, a businessman of Chinsali.


The suspect has been detained in police custody in Chinsali.


Mr Kapeso further commended police officers for their swift action and warned would-be offenders of stiffer punishment.
