LCC gets rehabilitated fire engine

The Lusaka City Council Fire Brigade department has received a donation of a fire engine and other fire gadgets that include fire safety boots from the Noble Charities Organization of the United States of America.

Lusaka Mayor Daniel Chisenga said the donation would enable a quick response to emergencies of fire and other emergencies that need the attention of the fire brigade.

Mr. Chisenga said in a speech read for him by his deputy Mulenga Sata that the donation was timely because the Lusaka was undergoing a lot of progressive changes economically and socially.

He said the business environment that has been created in Lusaka requires the fire brigade to be well equipped.

Mr. Chisenga has however cautioned the public to guard the equipment jealously as it costs a lot of money.

He further appealed to the public to make use of the toll free line 993 in case of any fire emergencies.

And Fire Service Union of Zambia General Secretary Clement Mulenga thanked Noble Charities for the donation of a fire truck.

Mr. Mulenga disclosed that the donated of a fire tender has the capacity to deliver water to the scene of fire with minimum friction loss at a distance of 200 metres.

The donated fire engine was rehabilitated to its current standard at a cost about US$10, 000.

And Noble Charities Organization representative, Collin Noble said in a speech read on his behalf by Desmond Noble that the fire brigade should maximize the use of the truck.
