CHIEF Chimbuka of Muchinga Province says Hakainde Hichilema is a failure in his political life.
And Paramount Chief Mpezeni says Hichilema seems to be fixed to his tribe and does not want to work with others.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Mpezeni at his Ephendukeni palace on Sunday, chief Chimbuka said it was strange that Hichilema knew of an illness afflicting President Michael Sata, which he, as a relative, was not aware of.
He said President Sata’s relatives would have known about his illness earlier than Hichilema.
“Now, if this person (President Sata) dies, what will my family say?
Who are they going to say has bewitched him? Hakainde is a failure in his political life. I can say this openly, I can’t hide anything at all. Where UPND has come from, it had a lot of people under Mazoka who was a proper, proper politician, but if you look at the UPND’s political percentage now, it’s down when compared to the Mazoka percentage,” chief Chimbuka said.
He said it was unfortunate that Hichilema was only targeting President Sata in everything he was doing.
“I am waiting for him (Hichilema) to tell me what he (President Sata) is suffering from. If you want to be a leader, don’t be emotional so that at the end of the day, you say things that are not supposed to be said,” chief Chimbuka said.
He said one province could not take Hichilema to State House.
“Hichilema is a failure in politics; he is just power-hungry. I don’t know why Hichilema is always bitter when he is talking about Sata. A politician should talk about development. Sata stayed for ten years (in the opposition), talking about development. I am complaining about HH’s utterances because I am bitter with him,” chief Chimbuka said.
He said it was not good for any person to wish other people dead.
“Hichilema is kept by God and every person is kept by God, so let him not talk about health. Let Hakainde talk about the bad things that President Sata is doing. If he is making roads, he is building schools, then he is working well,” Mpezeni said.
He said it was unfortunate that Hichilema was too self-centred and fixed to his tribe.
“I keep different people here in Chipata. I keep amwenye (Indians), I keep Bembas, I keep people from different tribes. So Hichilema should not be fixed to one tribe; he should emulate Dr Kenneth Kaunda, not what he is doing. No one should play with illness; maybe he (Hichilema) does not fall sick. We are all human beings and we’ll die one day,” Mpezeni said.
“We need proper opposition in Zambia not these people who always talk about illness. What is Hichilema looking for?” wondered Mpezeni.
