The Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says the door is wide open for former Defense Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, commonly known as GBM, to join the party if PF expels him from the party.
Northern Provincial PF Secretary Everist Chela was quoted in the media saying the PF in Kasama has embarked on a crusade to de-campaign GBM stating that he wants to join the opposition UPND.
But UPND Deputy Spokesperson, Edwin Lifwekelo, has told QFM News in an interview that the party has never at any time discussed with Mr. Mwamba about the possibility of him joining the party but if he wishes to join he is welcome.
Mr. Lifwekelo says it is saddening to see how the PF is mistreating the Kasama Law Maker forgetting that resigning is not a crime to be treated the way he is being treated.
Mr. Lifwekelo says Davies Mwila resigned from his position as Defense Deputy Minister and he was not treated the way Mr. Mwamba is being treated which should open the minds of the people that there is something the PF wants from Mr. Mwamba.
Mr. Lifwekelo however states that Mr. Mwamba is welcome to join the UPND if he wishes to because UPND is a party that is open to any Zambian citizen who wishes to contribute to national development.
