Beaumelle calls up Katongo Zambia training camp

Patrice Beaumelle has named Chris Katongo to his 24-member Zambia for next week’s get-together training camp in Lusaka.

Katongo is currently clubless and back in Zambia training with his ex-club Green Buffaloes after his contract with promoted Chinese club Henan Jianye expired last October.
However, his brother Felix Katongo who had an inspired 2013 Cecafa Cup outing with Zambia in Kenya last December is conspicuously missing from the list despite his outstanding performances at the tournament where the team won bronze.
Also missing are strikers Bornwell Mwape and Alex Ngonga of Nchanga Rangers and Power Dynamos respectively.
But there is a shock recall for Power Dynamos midfielder Kennedy Mudenda after a two year exile.
Beaumelle has also called up Red Arrows goalkeeper Daniel Munyau who is still out of action following an operation on his torn tendon.
Otherwise the Frenchman has kept his faith in most of his home-based regulars from the 2013 Cosafa Cup, 2014 CHAN qualifiers and Cecafa Cup engagements.
Meanwhile, Beaumelle has excused players from Nkana and Zesco United due to their CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup engagements respectively.
