Zesco to spend $30m on Lusaka MFE Zone

–Zesco Limited says a total of $30 million is expected to be spent on the Lusaka Multi Facility Economic Zone power project.

Zesco spokesperson, Henry Kapata, has disclosed that the company is also expected to spend an additional $10 million on a 132 kilovolts power line into Chawama compound.

Mr Kapata told ZANIS in Lusaka today that the project is expected to be completed within the period of 12 to 18 months.

He said once the project is completed, it will be a boost to the business fraternity and people living around the area.

The Zesco spokesperson said the Lusaka Multi Facility Economic Zone power project is among the huge projects the company is undertaking in Lusaka in a quest to improve power distribution to its customers.

Mr Kapata named some of the projects that are almost complete as the new Chalala power project, the Lusaka West 330/11kv substation switch gear, the new Bonaventure and the Liverpool substation project.
