MISA vows to continue pushing for media freedom

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia chapter says it will continue to fight for pieces of legislation that enhance media freedom in the country.

MISA Zambia Chairperson, Nalumino Nalumino has told Qfm News in an interview that there is need for government to quicken the process of enacting the freedom of information bill in order for the country to have a vibrant media.

Mr. Nalumino explains that MISA stands for the promotion of an ethical and accountable media and that this will be done through the promotion of policies and legislation promotes media independence.

He stresses that the media body is still working closely with other stakeholders to ensure that the access to information bill is not shelved in the darkroom as its enactment will promote information flow and transparency.

Mr. Nalumino has also implored journalists to always check their facts before publishing their stories as this will help not only to give the correct information to the public but also promote professionalism.
