—–Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chileshe Mulenga, says the contribution of top dressing fertiliser in the province under the Farmer Input Support Programme is set to be completed this Thursday.

Dr Mulenga said Eastern province was allocated a total of 311, 270 X 50 kg bags of Urea fertilizer and only 18,661 x 50kg have not yet reached the farmers.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview today Dr Mulenga said the distribution exercise in Nyimba, Sinda and Vubwi has been completed while the process is underway in the other districts.

He disclosed that about 86 per cent of Urea fertilizer meant for Chadiza and Petauke has been distributed to farmers while about 99 per cent of the inputs for Chipata district have been distributed so far.

Dr Mulenga said the delayed distribution of fertilizer will not affect the harvest has it is within the window period.

He said apart from the delayed distribution of fertilizer, other farming inputs were delivered on time, adding that there are no challenges in the current distribution exercise.
