Kabompo plunged into darkness
Kabompo, Feb 4, 2014, ZANIS–A Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation
(ZESCO) generator that supplies electricity to Kabompo district has
broken down plunging the whole district into power blackout.
Kabompo acting district commissioner Myson Chikundula who confirmed
the development to ZANIS in Kabompo today said normal operations in
government departments and other businesses have been affected.
Mr Chikundula, however, said institutions such as the hospital and a
few other departments are using their own small generators to supply power for operations.
He added that ZESCO has found a way to provide power to Kabompo water
works plant to ensure that water supply is not affected throughout the
three days the district is expected to experience the power blackout.
Mr Chikundula said ZESCO management in Kabompo has already informed
their headquarters to send engineers to Kabompo to repair the broken
down generator.
