CONFUSION characterised Mufulira Patriotic Front (PF) district elections following two different lists of illegible voters that were only harmonised at a late stage.
PF senior members, Chishimba Kambwili who is Sports Minister, Ngosa Simbyakula, Home Affairs, Mwenya Musenge Copperbelt and Bridget Atanga who is PF’s deputy secretary general recognised a different voters’ list from the one produced by former district chairperson John Katati.
The position of chairperson was being contested by Mr Katati and Dominic Mwale.
Mr Kambwili was seen to differ openly with Kankoyo Parliamentarian Levy Chabala for seemingly supporting Mr Katati.
It was believed that Mr Katati, whose executive was dissolved in 2010 created a parallel executive most of whose names appeared on another list.
Voting which started late was still under way by press time under tight security.
