LUSAKA magistrate Rodgers Kaoma has warned musician, Clifford Dimba, commonly known as ‘General’ Kanene, to appear in court next Tuesday without fail to hear the judgment in his defilement case.
Dimba’s coming late to court yesterday resulted in Mr Kaoma failing to deliver his judgment for the third time.
This is in a matter in which Dimba is charged with having carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old grade seven pupil.
Dimba of house number B/02, Misisi Township in Lusaka, is charged with defilement contrary to the law.
It is alleged that Dimba on unknown dates but between January 31 and February 1, 2012 in Lusaka did have unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
He has denied the offence. But when the matter came up for judgment yesterday afternoon, both Dimba and his defence lawyer, Nicholas Chanda were not present.
This prompted Mr Kaoma to order that Dimba should on February 4, 2014 be taken to court under a warrant of arrest.
However, immediately after Mr Kaoma’s order, Dimba walked into the court with an explanation that he had gone to the hospital to seek medication.
Mr Kaoma then revoked the warrant of arrest but warned Dimba to appear before him on Tuesday failure to which consequences would follow.
