South road works create 1,341 jobs

President Michael Sata has said the ongoing 780.5 kilometre construction works of selected roads in Southern Province have created a total of 1,341 jobs as of December 31, 2013.

The head of state said the construction of key roads such as the Bottom road will stimulate tourism and agricultural development in Gwembe, Siavonga, Sinazongwe, Zimba and Chirundu districts in Southern and Lusaka Provinces respectively.

The President in his facebook posting today said the 131.50 km Bottom road works are ongoing and are at 40 percent progress.

Mr. Sata added that construction works such as the ones on the Bottom road will create jobs for the Zambian people.

He further stated that this important road link underlines government’s desire and determination to develop critical road infrastructure in the country in order to create a better Zambia for all as enshrined in the PF manifesto.

The President stated that the road works in Southern Province are costing K480 million.
