Team to cycle 40 miles for Zambian orphans

A team of three people are being sent out to Zambia in February, in order to renovate an orphanage, provide training in literacy, and provide IT equipment for the school. They also hope to set up an internet style cafe.

They will be supporting ‘The Harvest Community Care Centre’. This orphanage provides care for deprived children: the majority are orphans and children who live on the streets. They provide shelter, clothing, education, counseling and meals.

To support their work, on Saturday January 18, Sarah Hawkins, Jenny Priestley, Jane Darling and Beckie Ward (pictured) will do a 40 mile cycle ride start at Long Buckby Wharf, then head through Daventry and Staverton, on to Draycote Water, than back via Willoughby, Barby, Braunston and West Haddon to Long Buckby Wharf again.

They will be specifically raising money for the IT project. Their goal is to raise £1,600 towards enabling IT equipment, specifically laptops, to be purchased.
