—Southern province Minister Daniel Munkombwe says President Michael Sata will go down in history as a selfless leader whose administration has accorded women well deserved recognition and respect.

Mr Munkombwe says President Sata is the first Zambian leader since independence to give full recognition to the women’s potential and role in the development process of this country.

Mr Munkombwe said this is evidenced by President Sata’s appointment of women to strategic decision making positions in government, jobs which in the past were a preserve of the men folk.

He observed that at no time in the history of this country has the number of women holding senior management been so high than in the Patriotic Front administration.

Mr Munkombwe said President Sata has indisputably helped dismiss the notion that women were only good for the kitchen and therefore could not be leaders.

The Southern province minister was speaking in Choma today when Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Brigadier General Emeldah Chola paid a courtesy call on him.

He said President Sata has managed to drastically change the thinking that women were only good for the Kitchen.

Mr Munkombwe has called upon all Zambians to support President Sata as he strives to development this country.

And Brigadier General Chola thanked President Sata for appointing a considerable number of women to key decision making positions.

She said the women are determined to work very hard so that they don’t disappoint the president.

Brigadier Chola was accompanied by her Deputy Permanent Secretary Willis Manjimela and other senior officers in the ministry.
