AN unknown person was found dead in Kafue at a hill commonly used for prayers, Kafue District Commissioner Grace Ngulube has said.
Ms Ngulube said the body was discovered on Tuesday this week, with the unidentified man wearing a blue pair of jeans and black plastic sandals.
“The place where this death occurred is a hill on which people from Lusaka and other parts of the country come for prayers in groups. It is surprising how this person could be found dead alone on this hill when people go for prayers in groups,” Ms Ngulube.
She cautioned the public to be careful with the churches they attended for prayers as some could have suspicious motives.
Ms Ngulube warned the public and churches that use the hill for special prayers in Kafue that no such groups would be allowed to proceed for prayers without informing the police.
“Transporters must also take this notification seriously as buses that will be found with worshippers attending special prayers without the authority of the police will be impounded,” she said.
In Mongu, a man identified as Chinyemba Chinyemba of Nalusa Village drowned in Malile River while trying to retrieve bathing towels from two boats that had capsised.
Mr Chinyemba drowned on Monday and his body had not yet been retrieved.
In a related development, a female juvenile aged 13 of Tiyesa farms also drowned in Lupande Stream after slipping in the water as she was trying to cross to another side of the village.
The accident happened on Monday this week, when the juvenile missed a step and slipped into the deep waters in Lupande farm block in Chafisi area in Katete District.
The body of the deceased has been retrieved and was discovered with a swollen stomach and had since been buried.
A man died on the spot while four others sustained injuries after being involved in a road traffic accident yesterday.
The accident occurred around 16:00 hours along the Choma- Namwala Road at Kandondo Farm when a Toyota Carina, registration number ALJ 1976 which was driven by Uster Muyuba, 42, of Lusaka, lost control.
Mr Muyuba failed to negotiate a curve and overturned several times on the road after which he hit into three juvenile pedestrians. One of the juveniles one died and two sustained minor injuries.
The driver and his passenger Rasford Mutende, 49, of Matero Township in Lusaka also sustained injuries and were both admitted to Choma General Hospital.
The body of the deceased was taken to Choma General Hospital mortuary.
