Chisamba civil servants in plot allocation windfall

Chisamba,  JANUARY, 7, 20114, ZANIS —  Government has urged Chisamba District council to  allocate residential plots to civil servants in the area to avert the accommodation crisis.

Chisamba District Commissioner (D.C) Ferdinand Chipindi says the council should allocate the residential plots to the civil service in the area to avert the accommodation shortage in the area.

Mr, Chipindi said he was concerned over shortage of accommodation of civil service staff in the area  adding that this had made some officers not to report for work .

Some of the officers are in view of the accommodation issue forced to stay in neighbouring Chibombo District.

He said this is affecting work and development in the district and that there is urgent need for the council to allocate plots to civil servants so that they can build their own houses as a way of helping government solve the problem.

The residents in the area have hiked the rentals with a moderate two bed roomed house going for K100 000 to K1, 500 forcing most officers to rent rooms in the compounds and leave their families in the various areas where they came from.

The D.C has also requested heads of various government departments to give simple jobs to the local youths once government projects start as a way of empowering them.
