Chilubi January 7, 2014 ZANIS —  Chilubi district commissioner Boniface Kamanda has  commended  government for its commitment to fulfill pre-elections promises in improving the livelihood of people in the country.

Mr. Kamanda  says the social cash transfer scheme for instance that has been set up in the area is one of the many campaign promises that has been fulfilled by the government.

He said the scheme, which has finally started rolling out in the district, will greatly improve the livelihood of people in the area.

ZANIS reports that the area D.C said this in a speech read on his behalf by the District Administrative Officer (DAO) Deogratius Mwamba, in Chilubi District, yesterday.

This was  during the official opening of enumerators training workshop for social cash transfer Programme in the area.

“The main Objective of this Programme is to reduce extreme poverty in many poverty stricken societies,” said Mr. Kamanda.

He further explained that the opening of the said Programme in the district is a clear indication that the PF Government is committed to reducing poverty in the country.

He observed that once the Programme is well implemented by the locals it will not only reduce extreme poverty in the area but to also mitigate intergenerational poverty transfer in such areas.

Mr. Kamanda added that this is also likely to improve performance in Key sectors such as Health, Education, Agriculture among others.
