OPERATIONS at Indeni Oil Refinery are expected to resume on Saturday, public relations officer Mwila Nkonge has said.
The plant was scheduled to start operations on Monday after a month-long annual routine shut down before the resumption was deferred to yesterday.
The refinery is now set to restart on Saturday.
The plant was shut down for routine maintenance works on the reformer catalyst and the hydro-treater catalyst.
Mr Nkonge said the first stage of the maintenance works which involves oxidation has now been completed.
“Right now we are in the second stage which only takes 20 hours,” he said.
On Monday, Energy and Water Development Permanent Secretary Charity Mwansa said the company could not resume its operations because some works were still being done.
Ms Mwansa said a lot of work was being done at the plant and Indeni had underestimated the time within which the maintenance works should have been completed.
