–The Platform for Social Protection (PSP) in partnership with Care International has handed over 16 bicycles valued at over K12,000 to Village Agents in Kaputa district to help in the implementation of Strengthening Cash Transfers for Access
to Finance, Livelihood and Entrepreneurship (SCALE) project.

Under this project, the village agents will help spearhead the formation of a Village Saving Loans Association to encourage women and other community members generate money for other business ventures.

Speaking at the handover of the bicycles yesterday, Kaputa District Commissioner, Chrispine Kachusha, commended PSP and Care International for helping uplift the standard of living of the community.

Mr Kachusha has, however, warned the beneficiaries not to misuse the bicycles but instead use them for the intended purpose.

The DC emphasized the need for the beneficiaries to use the bicycles prudently to help them in their project.

And Alfred Mwenya, a Village Agent who is also one of the beneficiaries of the bicycles, praised PSP and Care International for rolling out this project to Kaputa.

Mr Mwenya observed that with the child grant project coming to the end the SCALE will help women with income generating ventures for survival.

He has since pledged his commitment in seeing the success of the programme.

Meanwhile, PSP District Village Agent Supervisor, Fenston Katai, has explained that the bicycles have been given to Community Welfare Assistant Committees (CWACs) to help in mobility when spearheading the programme.
