Chikusu’s body arrives back home

The body of the late Deputy Minister of Health Patrick Chikusu arrived in the country yesterday.

 

The body arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at around 21 hours aboard a South African Airways Plane.

 

At hand to receive the body was Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba, Health Minister Joseph Kasonde, Community Development Minister Joseph Katema, and Vice President’s wife Charlotte Scott.

 

Also present were Community Development Deputy Minister Jean Kapata, Defence Deputy Minister Joseph Lungu, Sports Deputy Minister Christopher Mulenga, and Health Permanent Secretary Peter Mwaba, Senior government officials among others.

 

Others were Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Vice President for Political Affairs Michael Kaingu, Vice President for Administration Brian Chituwo, Nalikwanda MP Geoffrey Lungwangwa and senior MMD officials.

 

As the body was disembarking from the plane and departing from the Airport, PF and MMD party members sang solemn songs together.

 

And Speaking to Journalists, Justice Minister Winter Kabimba described the late deputy minister as a medical academician who will be hard to replace.

 

Mr. Kabimba said the country has been robbed of a gallant deputy minister who articulated issues related to health in a more professional manner

 

The Justice Minister also said Dr. ChiKusu was a dedicated Member of Parliament (MP) who remained calm and always brought unity and harmony among MPs.

 

Meanwhile, Dr. Charlotte Scott said news of the death of Dr. Chikusu was shocking as the country has been robbed of a talented professional medical doctor whose services will be missed.

 

President Michael Sata has declared tomorrow Saturday December 7, 2013 as the day of national mourning in honour of the late deputy minister.
