Zambia deports Indians on suspicion of Satanism

Zambia has deported two Indians who were found performing a ritual at a burial site in capital Lusaka that they believed would help a married couple have children.

“My ministry received a report from police that they had arrested and charged two Indian nationals for trespassing at the burial site,” Home Affairs Minister Edger Lungu told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.

He said the two suspects – who had been in the company of a Zambian couple – were performing a ritual at the Old Leopard’s Hill Cemetery when they were discovered by people who had come to visit the grave of a deceased relative.

“When we got there, we saw people standing at the grave,” George Maanza, one of those who saw them performing the ritual, told AA.

Maanza said that he and his cousins had gone to the cemetery to lay a wreath at the tomb of his elder brother who had recently passed away.

“At first we thought they were mourners who had just finished burying a loved one, but when we got nearer we discovered they weren’t mourners,” he added.

“We became curious at the presence of the Indians and made a citizen’s arrest on suspicion that they were practicing Satanism at the grave of our deceased cousin,” Maanza recounted.
