United Party for National Development (UPND) Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament, Garry Nkombo, has called on Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu, to ensure the Zambia Police Service operate professionally without interference from government.

Mr. Nkombo says it is very sad that since the Patriotic Front (PF) came into power in 2011, lives have been lost as a result of political violence, due to the failure by the police to act swiftly.

He expresses concern that Police have not arrested all the people involved in the violence in Chelston area in which a PF cadre was killed recently.

Mr Nkombo says it is high time the Home Affairs Minister ensured there was no interference in the work of the Police.
