Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) president Nevers Mumba says President Michael Sata should stay away from the affairs of the Bemba Royal Establishment and allow the installation of Henry Chanda Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

Dr Mumba has accused the Patriotic Front (PF) government of creating insecurity and tension in the Bemba land with their intentions to dethrone the recently enthroned Chitimukulu.

In a statement issued to QFM News today, Dr Mumba says the former ruling party is shocked at the unorthodox manner the PF wishes to interfere with the decision of the Bemba traditional council to choose Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people.

Dr. Mumba has also condemned the unwarranted deployment of security forces to Chitimukulu’s palace stating that such action will only antagonize the Bemba speaking people.

Dr. Mumba notes that though President Michael Sata has requested for members of the Bemba Royal Establishment to travel to Lusaka for dialogue, meaningful dialogue cannot take place when the palace is under siege.

He has since demanded for the immediate withdrawal of the police from the palace before any meaningful dialogue can be considered.

Dr. Mumba adds that the Bemba Royal Establishment is the supreme council of the Bemba speaking people and does not report to the Permanent Secretary or the President.
