Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has maintained his position that there were irregularities in the procurement of 50, 000 metric tons of Urea Fertilizer by government from Saudi Arabia.

In a letter dated 7th November 2013 addressed to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director General and released to Qfm in Lusaka today, Mr. Hichilema says the procurement of the said Fertilizer was single sourced and that there appears to be an over payment of the Fertilizer%u2019s purchase.

Mr. Hichilema says in the view of his party the UPND such kind of conduct by government allegedly constitutes corruption and that it is also a clear waste of public resources and possible theft.

The UPND leaders charged that upon his party expects the ACC to commence the process of formal investigations in the alleged act of corruption upon receiving his letter and as provided for in the Anti Corruption Act.
