TRANSPORT, Works, Supply and Communications Minister Yamfwa Mukanga has told Parliament that names of the people to seat on the Road Development Agency (RDA) board have been identified and the team will be constituted before the end of next month.

Mr Mukanga told the House that there was a delay to get the names of the people to seat on the board from the representative institutions and ministries.
“In accordance with the Act, my ministry did write to respective institutions and ministries to submit the names of the individuals to be appointed to the board, however, there was a delay in getting the names,” Mr Mukanga said.
He said this in a ministerial statement in the House following a Point of Order raised by United Party for National Development (UPND) Monze Central Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Mwiimbu last week who wanted to know why the RDA had been operating without a board, while tenders were being offered.
Mr Mukanga in response said the names of those to seat on the board were being cleared after which letters of appointment would be given to the individual members.
“It is expected that the process will be concluded before the end of November 2013,”he said.
The Minister also clarified that the RDA board was not responsible for matters pertaining to procurement at the Agency, as the procurement system was done through the Zambia Public Procurement Act No 12 of 2008.
