ZAMBIA under-20 women national team coach Charles Bwale has summoned a fifth goalkeeper Agel Nali in a bid to widen the selection base ahead of this month’s 2014 Canada World Cup preliminary round first leg against Namibia.
Bwale said in Lusaka yesterday that Luanshya-based Nali started training on Tuesday.
He said the technical bench decided to summon a fifth goalkeeper after the four custodians failed to impress.
The four are Chipo Nkhoma, Susan Nalwamba, Agness Banda and Justina Mbewe.
Zanaco goalkeepers’coach Kalumba Mpunga is drilling the five players.
“We have called a fifth goalkeeper, who is also not very good. We can’t continue searching but we will do with what we have because time is not on our side,” Bwale said.
The team will today play a friendly against Olympic Youth Development Centre boys’ team.
Zambia face Namibia on October 26 with the return leg after a fortnight.
The team:
Goalkeepers: Chipo Nkhoma, Susan Nalwamba, Agness Banda and Justina Mbewe.
Defenders: Anita Mulenga, Lwendo Chisamo, Elina Nyirenda, Maclina Daka, Grace Zulu, Doreen Mweseba and Jacqueline Mulenga.
Midfielders: Misozi Zulu, Rachael Zulu, Natasha Lwitika, Mutale Chisanga, Astrida Pupe, Barbara Banda, Tukiya Mufishi and Deborah Nyamulonga.
Strikers: Theresa Chewe, Milika Limwanya, Elizabeth Nachivula, John Benaya, Grace Chanda and Grace Chilufya.
