Chikwanda and Gondwe nominated for the Investment and Business Leader Awards 2013

ZAMBIA’S Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda and Bank of Zambia governor Michael Gondwe have been nominated for the ‘Investment and Business Leader Awards 2013’  by African Investor (Ai) to be held on October 10, 2013 in Washington DC, United States.
According to a statement released by first secretary for press at the Zambian Embassy in South Africa Patson Chilemba, Ai is a leading international investment and communications group.
In the ‘Finance Minister of the Year’ category, Mr Chikwanda has been nominated alongside South Africa’s Finance Minister Parvin Gordhan, Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance Nizar Barak, and Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Economy Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
In the central bank governor of the Year award, Zambia’s Michael Gondwe will compete against Nigeria’s Lamido Sanusi, South African Reserve Bank governor Gill Marcus, Rundheersing Bheenick of Mauritius, Kenya’s Njuguna Ndung’u, National Bank of Rwanda governor John Rwangomba, Bank of Uganda governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile and Bank of Namibia governor Ipumba Shiimi.
Other categories that will be competed for include Best Initiative in Support of SMEs and the Millennium Development Goals, Investor Climate Initiative, Bank of the Year, Carbon Finance Initiative, and Venture Capital/Private Equity Dea.
The rest are Employer and Human Capital Investor, Institutional Investor, Investment Promotion, Leadership in Sustainable Investment in Africa, Africa’s Innovation leader of the Year and Africa’s Leading Woman in Business.
Others include International Business Leader, Up and Coming Future Leader, International Sovereign Wealth Fund initiative and African Sovereign Wealth Fund Initiative of the year award respectively.
The Ai Investment and Business Leader Awards will take place on October 10, 2013, during the Africa investor CEO Investment Climate Summit in Washington DC, running alongside the World Bank annual meetings.
The Ai Investment and Business Leader awards was established in 2005 to shed light on Africa’s many investment and business leaders’ success stories.
Ai is a specialist investment and communications firm advising governments, international organisations and businesses on strategies for capital market and foreign direct investment in Africa.
