The United Party for National Development Party (UPND) says assertions that the opposition shunned the just ended United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) general assembly are misplaced and mere political rhetoric.

UPND deputy Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has told Qfm in an interview that the UNWTO has exposed the ruling Patriotic Front’s mentality of excluding certain interest groups from participating in governmental functions.

Mr. Mweetwa has challenged the government to tell the nation how many members of the opposition were invited for the UNWTO general assembly.

He says events of such nature need to bring on board all stakeholders regardless of political affiliation.

Opposition leaders were notably absent from the proceedings of the UNWTO general assembly which officially closed on Wednesday 28th August, 2013.
