Transparent International Zambia (TIZ) has demanded the revocation of all contracts awarded to various contractors and suppliers in the run up to this month’s United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly believed to have been dubiously awarded.

This follows the revelation by Auditor General, Anna Chifungula, that some contracts awarded for various contractors and suppliers in the run up to this month’s UNWTO general assembly have been dubious.

TIZ Executive Director, Goodwell Lungu says the country risks losing huge sums of money following the awarding of contracts to people who do not even deserve to be awarded such contract.

Mr Lungu notes that it is obvious that most companies were contracted contracts without following the laid down procurement regulations by the relevant authorities.

He has since urged the Auditor General to reveal the exact amounts that could have been saved had procurement procedure been followed.

Mr Lungu says Zambians will not allow elements of corruption in the awarding of contracts because they want transparency in the process and deserving contractors to be awarded contracts.
