Zambia’s trade surplus

ZAMBIA  has recorded a reduced trade surplus valued at K109 million for the month of June compared to the K268 million recorded in May, 2013.

  Central Satistics Office (CSO) director John Kalumbi said Zambia exported more in June, 2013, than it did in nominal terms.
Addressing journalists at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Kalumbi said Zambia had continued to record trade surpluses since January 2013 with the highest valued at K329 million recorded in April 2013 and the lowest trade surplus was recorded in February 2013, valued at K133.2 million.
He said Zambia’s major export products in June 2013 were from the intermediate goods category mainly comprising copper cathodes and sections of refined copper accounting for 71.2 per cent.
