Broken down grader  in Mbala District worries govt.

Mbala,  June 18th , 2013,  ZANIS  —-  Government  has expressed concern over the consistent  breakdown of the  grader working on Kawimbe road  in Mabla District.

Mbala District Commissioner Best Kabulembe says the breakdown of the grader has delayed the  rehabilitation  works on the economically important road.

ZANIS reports that the district commissioner said this , today, when he visited the site to check on the progress done on the repairs of  the grade which broke down last Sunday.

He said completion of the rehabilitation works on the 17 km stretch of the road which was scheduled to be completed in 12 days after the RRU machines moved on site is being frustrated by constant break down of the grader.

Mr. Kabulembe who was accompanied by the district administrative officer, Felix Mungaila,  said the rehabilitation works on the Kawimbe road was supposed to be completed in 12 days time before moving to chief Mpande’s area.

The district commissioner said he was now becoming worried that the two projects may not be completed because the K142, 000 budget has almost been exhausted on repairing one grader and paying accrued allowances to officers.

Mr. Kabulembe said the Kawimbe and Mpande roads were supposed to be worked on before the commencement of the marketing season to allow for smooth transportation of agricultural produce to Mbala main Food Reserve Agency depot.
