President Michael Sata has asked the Patriotic Front (PF) candidate in the forth coming Kafulafuta parliamentary by election James Chishiba to give a good representation of the people once voted to the national assembly.
Mr. Sata said the people of Kafulafuta have been denied development for many years and that it was therefore important to ensure that their living standards were uplifted.
The President also urged the PF candidate Mr. Chishiba to demonstrate his relevance to the party by ensuring that only meaningful developmental projects that will bring change to the lives of the people in the area are implemented.
Mr. Sata said this when he addressed separate rallies at Chiwala and Bangwe Basic schools in Kafulafuta constituency in Masaiti district to drum up support for the party candidate.
He noted that people already know who they want to vote for adding that what gives confidence in them to vote for a member of parliament is how responsible the candidate presents himself.
The Head of State also urged Mr. Chishiba to be hard working adding that the party he has joined embraces such culture and does not believe in giving people fake promises.
The President observed that the constituency is still under developed despite having being under the MMD when it was in government for many years.
He regretted that the area has no decent infrastructure in terms of schools, clinics and roads but assured the electorates of change once the PF takes over.
"Pupils cover long distances ,there is no electricity at Chiwala’s palace. You should be able to represent them well. If you fail to deliver, we will chase you from the party," warned President Sata.
And PF campaign manager for the Solwezi east parliamentary by-election Gabriel Namulambe who also accompanied the President noted that the government has a developmental agenda that includes all Zambians.
Mr. Namulambe who asked the people to vote for the PF candidate said the candidate defected to the ruling party because of his desire to develop the constituency.
And National Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba has pledged his party’s support for the PF candidate.
President Sata has since returned back to Lusaka after successfully holding the two campaign rallies.
He was accompanied to Kafulafuta by his campaign manager Willie Nsanda, NRP president Cosmo Mumba and other senior party officials.
The Kafulafuta seat fell vacant when the area MP James Chishiba, defected from the MMD to join the ruling PF party.
Parties contesting in the by election include the PF, United Party for National Development (UPND),National Restoration Party (NAREP) and the Movement for Multi- party Democracy (MMD).
