Political parties urged to conduct Peaceful campaigns


Solwezi, July 11, ZANIS….Northwestern Province Development Council of Elders Chairperson Lukas Chikoti has appealed to all political players participating in the forthcoming Solwezi East constituency by-election to conduct peaceful and issue based campaigns.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS today, Mr Chikoti expressed happiness that so far the campaigns were being conducted in a peacefully manner and urged candidates and their supporters from all political parties to continue embracing the same spirit adding that they should carry out  issue based campaigns.

Mr Chikoti also advised youths not to incite violence or to allow themselves to be used as tools of destruction by selfish political leaders before, during and after the elections.

He appealed to all registered voters in Solwezi East constituency to turn out in large numbers and vote for their preferred credible candidate who will bring meaningful development to their area and uplift their living standards.

The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Movement for Multi-party Democracy area Member of Parliament Richard Taima to join the ruling Patriot Front (PF)

 

Solwezi east constituency parliamentary by-election is slated for July 25, this year.

Peter Ilunga is contesting on the ruling Patriotic Front ticket while others contesting the seat are Cephas Luwaile of United National Independent Party and Villie Lombanya of United Party for National Development.
